AI Superpowers Unlocked · Superpower #9
Video gen or code? One Kling clip instead of seven
Video gen for a body moving. Code for text.
Every video in this series opens the same way: the robot plugs into the wall and a nameplate names the superpower. The obvious way to make that is one AI video clip per episode, with the model writing the name. Seven episodes, seven clips, 81 Kling credits each: 567 credits, and a wrong letter means a retake.
What I did instead: one Kling clip (81 credits), reused in every video. The nameplates are free stills from Codex on my ChatGPT plan, and the plate growing out of the wall and the spark that etches each letter is a Python script Claude wrote.
Try it yourself
- Before you send a shot to video gen, ask: is it a body moving, or just text?
- Generate the motion once and reuse the clip.
- Do the text, diagrams, numbers and anything you repeat in code on top of it: cheaper, always spelled right, and easy to edit later.
What would it cost?
One AI clip per episode, or one clip reused with the text done in code. Move the sliders.
With 7 episodes at 81 credits a clip:
Credits saved: 486
The rule: video generation is for what only it can do, a character’s body moving. Code is for text, diagrams, screens, numbers and anything you repeat.
